The Tourism Development Authority has issued 16 final allocation decisions for investment plots at the South Magawish tourist centre, south of Hurghada, covering a total of more than one million square metres, Tourism Daily News reported, citing an official announcement published on 6 October 2026.

The projects planned on those plots are to add about 856 hotel rooms, together with residence units to be run by specialist operators.

What else the approvals cover

  • Two aqua parks, one of them to be managed by an international operator
  • Tourist service centres and upmarket entertainment areas
  • The expansion of one existing tourism project, raising its capacity to 946 hotel units

These are allocation decisions rather than finished projects. The authority is following implementation against approved timetables, and no opening dates and no investment costs have been announced so far, according to the report.

Tourism Daily News wrote that the projects, once built and operating, are expected to create direct and indirect jobs and to widen the choice of accommodation and activities for visitors, particularly families looking for beach stays combined with entertainment.
