Advertising and affiliate disclosure

How this site makes money, and what that money does not buy.

Last updated 25 July 2026.

Why this page exists

A local site that reviews hotels and lists businesses has an obvious conflict of interest, and the honest response is to describe it plainly rather than bury it. If you ever cannot tell whether something here was paid for, that is our failure — tell us and we will fix the labelling.

What money cannot buy

Not coverage. Not a better position in the directory. Not the removal of a story. Not a say in how a place is described. No advertiser or affiliate partner sees an article before it publishes, and no one gets to approve their own coverage.

Directory listings are free and are not ranked by whether anyone paid us. If that ever changes, it will say so on the directory itself, not only here.

Affiliate links

Some outbound links — booking, tours, travel gear — may earn us a commission if you book or buy. It costs you nothing extra. We only use them where we would have linked anyway, and where a commission exists we do not let it decide which option we recommend.

Where an article contains affiliate links we say so in the article, not just on this page.

Advertising and sponsorship

We sell advertising and sponsorship to local businesses — see advertise. Anything paid is labelled as advertising or sponsored, in plain words, where you see it. We do not run “native” pieces designed to read like reporting.

Press releases sent to us are treated as sources, not as articles. If we publish one it is labelled, and if we report on it we check it first.

Our own interests

Where the people behind this site have a stake in a business that appears on it, the listing or article says so. A conflict you disclose is manageable; one you hide is not.

Holding us to it

If you think something was paid for and not labelled, or that a commission shaped a recommendation, say so: hello@hurghada.news. We will look into it and publish a correction if we got it wrong.
