19-Million-Pound Water Network Being Laid to Connect Taqsim Al-Nour Homes to Mains Drinking Water

Work has begun on the first phase of a 19 million Egyptian pound drinking-water network for Taqsim Al-Nour in the Red Sea governorate, according to Sada El-Balad.

Bahaa Abdel Moneim Sayed El-Ahl, head of the Red Sea Drinking Water and Sanitation Company, inspected the site to check progress on the ground. He told staff to keep to the agreed timetable and to finish quickly so that mains drinking water can be connected to homes in the area — which, on the company's own account, are not yet on the network.

On the same visit he inspected the company's tanker filling station and the procedures for moving and delivering drinking water by road tanker, to confirm that supply by truck is running steadily and safely.

The report gives no completion date for the first phase, no contractor, and no number of homes to be connected — and it does not say which town Taqsim Al-Nour sits in.

For anyone living in an unconnected district, 19 million pounds is the difference between waiting on a tanker and turning on a tap. The company has not said when that switch happens.
