Arab Bridge Maritime is preparing to launch a shipping line between Safaga port and the Saudi port of Duba, the Egyptian business daily Al Mal reported on 18 October.

The company is at the same time planning to add three new vessels for passengers and cargo, which would bring its fleet to 11 ships. Al Mal writes that the expansion is intended to strengthen the company's capacity to carry lorries, freight and passengers across the Red Sea.

For anyone on this coast who uses Safaga for the crossing to Saudi Arabia, this is a company plan at the preparation stage rather than a service you can book. No start date for the first crossing has been confirmed, and the report names no timetable or fares.
