A State Valuation Committee Arrives Within Days to Re-Price Youth Land in Hurghada and Ras Ghareb

The Red Sea Governorate has asked the Government Services Authority to re-value youth land plots in Hurghada and Ras Ghareb whose contracts were never handed over, and a committee is due within days, Sada El-Balad reports.

A committee from the Government Services Authority is due in the Red Sea Governorate in the coming days to re-value youth land plots in Hurghada and Ras Ghareb whose contracts have never been handed to the people allocated them, according to the Egyptian outlet Sada El-Balad.

Red Sea Governor Dr Walid Al-Barqi said the governorate had asked the authority to re-price the land so that there is an approved financial value to work from in completing the procedures for beneficiaries still without contracts, the outlet reported.

The committee is expected to review the file and set the land price according to official valuation. Approving a price is one of the basic steps required before contracting and the handover of contracts can proceed, Sada El-Balad said.

The report carries no figures: not what the plots were priced at before, not what they might be priced at now, not how many beneficiaries are waiting, and no date by which contracts would be issued.

Hurghada News reported on 1 October that Hurghada and Ras Ghareb land without contracts was being priced, and that the governor said the new power-of-attorney checks would not freeze sales. What is new today is who does the valuing — a national body sending a committee within days — and that this file covers youth plots specifically.

For the residents in the scheme, this is the step that has been missing. Without an approved price there is nothing for a contract to be written against.
