Air Cairo is to connect Graz, the capital of the Austrian province of Styria, with Hurghada on a new summer service, according to the aviation trade outlet Aviation.Direct, which reported the route on 1 October. The outlet describes it as a new summer connection from Styria.
That is as far as the report goes. It carries no start date, no weekly frequency, no aircraft type and no fares, and it names no tour operator behind the service.
For the Red Sea the interest is in where the traffic comes from. Hurghada News reported on 29 September that Hurghada airport expects 100 to 120 flights a day this winter, with bookings already past 80 percent through December — a schedule heavily weighted towards German-speaking Europe, which a Graz service would add to.
Until the airline or Graz airport publishes a schedule, nothing can be said about when the first flight goes, how often it would run, or whether it is a year-round or season-only route.
