Air Cairo will take over the flights between Graz and Hurghada from the start of the summer 2027 schedule, operating the route under its commercial partnership with SunExpress, the aviation trade site Aviation.Direct reported on Friday.
The schedule, as reported, is:
- One flight a week, on Thursdays, from the start of the summer schedule
- A second weekly flight, on Mondays, from 5 July to 6 September 2027 — the peak of the holiday season
- Flown with Airbus A320 aircraft
Under the partnership, which has been in place since 2021, Air Cairo is responsible for operating the flights and for in-flight service, while SunExpress handles route planning, revenue management and sales, according to Aviation.Direct. Folding the route into the SunExpress distribution network gives Graz Airport a link to one of the significant leisure destinations on medium-haul routes.
For the Styrian regional airport, the report says, confirmation of the summer service means its tourist route network stabilises: alongside the existing service to Antalya, the return of the Egypt connection strengthens the package-holiday segment out of Graz. Airport management and tour operators see the step as a necessary part of filling regional passenger capacity, with demand for North African connections described as consistently high through the year.
The report gives no fares, no date on which booking opens, and no first flight date beyond the start of the summer 2027 schedule. For Hurghada's hotels, it is one more German-speaking feeder route locked in well ahead of the season; for travellers in southern Austria, it restores a direct option to the Red Sea coast that currently means connecting elsewhere.
