The food concept Grill Setup is bringing an open-fire cookout to Makani Beach in El Gouna on Friday 9 October, according to CairoScene.

The event starts at 4pm and runs late into the night, with open-air grilling, music and dinner by the water at Makani Beach Club, CairoScene reports. The outlet says Grill Setup is returning to the venue.

CairoScene frames the cookout as a Red Sea alternative to the usual north-coast Sahel weekend, with the date falling on the long weekend.

The date puts the cookout in a busy few days for the coast: four triathlon championships are due to run in Hurghada from 9 to 11 October.
