Cash Prizes Attached to the Student Film Competition at Hurghada's Youth Cinema Festival
Al-Masry Al-Youm reports that a backer it names as Mosafron is funding cash awards for the student strand of the Hurghada Youth Cinema Festival, now in its fourth edition. Neither the prize money nor the entry deadline has been published.

The student film competition at the Hurghada Youth Cinema Festival will carry cash prizes, according to Al-Masry Al-Youm, which reports that a backer it names as Mosafron has agreed to fund awards for the strand reserved for student film-makers.
Separately, Sada El-Balad has set out details of the festival's launch, describing an edition built around supporting new talent — the stated purpose of a programme that screens work by young and first-time film-makers rather than established names.
The festival is running its fourth edition in Hurghada. As this site reported, the opening honoured the Egyptian actor Chico, and the actress Sherry Adel is due to be honoured on 10 September.
What the two reports do not give is as notable as what they do:
- the value of the prizes, or how many will be awarded
- the criteria the jury will apply, or who sits on it
- the entry deadline, the venue and the full screening schedule
Neither outlet says whether the sponsorship covers this edition alone or continues into future years.
Hurghada's public calendar leans heavily on sport and the sea, and a youth film festival is one of the city's few recurring cultural fixtures. For residents, the run of honours continues through to the tribute on 10 September; for students on the coast who want to enter, there is now money attached to the competition, even if the amount has yet to be made public.
