Riders taking part in the Cross Egypt Challenge motorcycle rally have left Hurghada for the Red Pyramid at Dahshur, the final stop on this year's route.
The fifteenth edition has 32 riders representing six countries: Egypt, the United States, Spain, Tunisia, Canada and Australia.
The route runs about 2,345 kilometres in eight driving stages. It starts in Alexandria and passes the Bahariya Oasis, the White Desert, the Dakhla Oasis and Kharga, then Luxor, Hurghada and Ain Sokhna, before ending near Cairo.
The rally was first run in 2011, over more than 1,700 kilometres in nine days, from the Mediterranean coast south to the temple of Abu Simbel.
