EgyptAir Honors Doctor Who Saved Passenger's Life Mid-Flight from London

EgyptAir has honoured Dr Marwa Salah for the medical care she gave a passenger who collapsed on a flight from London to Cairo earlier this month.

The passenger suffered a sudden health emergency aboard EgyptAir flight MS780 from London Heathrow to Cairo International Airport on 10 July, Egypt Independent reported.

In an account carried by the outlet, the passenger said Dr Salah stayed at his side for more than two hours, providing critical care in highly challenging conditions, with support from other doctors travelling on the flight, the cabin crew and the captain.

EgyptAir arranged for an ambulance and a medical team to meet the aircraft as soon as it landed in Cairo so the passenger could be taken for follow-up treatment, according to Egypt Independent.

Pilot Ahmed Adel, chairman and executive managing director of EgyptAir Holding Company, received Dr Salah on 20 July. Masrawy reported that he said her conduct reflected "the highest meanings of humanity and professional responsibility", and embodied the role doctors play in serving society even in the most difficult circumstances.

Adel gave her a free ticket on EgyptAir flights in recognition of the intervention, as Masrawy and the Egyptian Gazette both reported.

The chairman also honoured the cabin crew, praising the professionalism and efficiency with which they handled the emergency alongside the doctor and helped keep the passenger safe until the aircraft landed.
