Egypt's clocks go back by 60 minutes at the end of the last Thursday in October, the point at which daylight saving time ends and winter time begins, according to Egypt Independent in an edited translation of Al-Masry Al-Youm. The last Thursday in October 2026 is 29 October.
The change is set by Law No. 24 of 2023, which governs the daylight saving system in Egypt. Under the same law, daylight saving began this year on Friday 24 April, when clocks went forward an hour.
The report says interest in the exact date has risen as October draws to a close. It points to no announcement beyond the law's own schedule, and gives no hour of the night for the switch other than the end of that Thursday.
Most phones handle the change themselves. The report advises setting Date & Time to update automatically; if the clock does not move, it suggests checking the time zone and the automatic-update setting, and correcting the clock by hand after the switch.
On this coast the hour matters most where a day is built around a fixed time. Airport transfers, dive-boat departures, excursion pickups and hotel check-ins are all booked in local time and do not move — but anything timed against a clock at home will shift. Visitors travelling in late October should check the gap between Egyptian time and the time at home, which does not necessarily change on the same date.
