Egypt's fuel prices stay unchanged, with 92-octane petrol at EGP 22.25 a litre

The committee said it weighed oil prices and the exchange rate for the July-to-September quarter before holding prices, which leaves diesel and kerosene at EGP 20.50 a litre.

Petrol, diesel and kerosene cost the same this weekend as before, after Egypt's Automatic Pricing Committee for Petroleum Products said in a statement in the middle of October that prices for petroleum products would remain unchanged.

Prices per litre, as of Saturday:

  • 92-octane petrol: EGP 22.25
  • 95-octane petrol: EGP 24.00
  • Diesel: EGP 20.50
  • Kerosene: EGP 20.50

A 12.5-kilogram domestic butane cylinder costs EGP 275 and a 25-kilogram commercial cylinder EGP 550.

The committee has resumed its work on the Cabinet's instruction. It said it had weighed international oil prices, the pound's exchange rate against foreign currencies and the parameters of the pricing mechanism for the July-to-September quarter against the previous quarter before holding prices steady.

Egypt Independent noted that fuel prices feed directly into transport costs and the prices of goods and services.
