HEPCA begins four days of mooring inspections and maintenance in Safaga

The team started on Saturday 24 October and is asking divers, dive centres and boat crews to report damaged moorings or missing lines while it is in the area.

24 October 2026

HEPCA, the Red Sea environment conservation association, says its mooring team began four days of work on Safaga's mooring network on Saturday 24 October, carrying out inspections, checks and maintenance across the system.

The group is asking the people who use those moorings to help while the team is still in the area. It wants to hear about a damaged mooring, a missing or loose line or anything else needing attention, from divers, dive centres, boat crews and anyone who uses the Safaga system regularly.

Reports can be sent through HEPCA's mobile app or to the WhatsApp number the association gives in its announcement.

HEPCA says those reports help its team find problems on the ground and keep the network safer and more reliable, which protects Safaga's reefs from anchor damage.

The announcement does not say which sites the team will reach in the four days.
