Hurghada Airport Expects 100–120 Flights a Day This Winter, With Bookings Already Past 80% Through December
Tour operators tell Al-Masry Al-Youm the coast is opening its winter season with German tour-operator contracts in front, Russian charters back in strength and Scandinavian routes still under negotiation.

Hurghada International Airport is preparing to handle between 100 and 120 scheduled and charter flights a day through the coming winter season, according to Al-Masry Al-Youm, which spoke to tour operators and hoteliers along the Red Sea as the season opens in early October.
Ashraf Thabet, who manages a Hurghada travel company, told the paper the winter flight map keeps the coast's established European markets and adds to them. Flights are set to come in from:
- Frankfurt, Berlin and Düsseldorf in Germany
- Vienna, Warsaw, Prague and Budapest in central Europe
- Moscow, with Russian charter traffic returning in strength
- new links being worked on with cities in Kazakhstan, Serbia and eastern Europe
Thabet said talks are also under way to add flights from Denmark, Sweden and Norway, alongside the Balkans. Egyptian carriers led by Air Cairo, together with charter airlines, are carrying much of the capacity.
The German market keeps its place at the front of the winter season, said Mohamed Shamroukh, managing director of a hotel group with properties in Hurghada and Sahl Hasheesh. Contracts with German tour operators already cover large shares of available hotel capacity, he told the paper, though the report gives no percentage. Poland, Czechia, England and the Balkan states are the other markets the sector is counting on.
Advance bookings have already passed 80% of available hotel capacity through December, a regional reservations manager at a Hurghada hotel group told the paper, and occupancy is expected to approach full over Christmas and New Year, with the coast competing against the Mediterranean, the Canary Islands and Turkey.
For anyone still thinking about Christmas or New Year here, that is the practical point in the figures: the rooms are going now.
