Hurghada and Ras Ghareb Land Without Contracts Is Being Priced, and the Governor Says the Power-of-Attorney Checks Will Not Freeze Sales
The Red Sea governorate has asked the Government Services Authority to set prices for plots in Hurghada and Ras Ghareb that have never had contracts issued. The governor also says the new review of land powers of attorney is not meant to hold up deals.

Land in Hurghada and Ras Ghareb that has never had a contract issued for it is now being priced, a step the Red Sea governorate says has to happen before allocations can be completed.
Red Sea Governor Walid El-Barqi said the governorate has written to the Government Services Authority to set prices for plots in the two cities for which no contracts have yet been issued, according to Al-Masry Al-Youm, Sada El-Balad and Akhbar El-Youm. Fixing a value, he said, is the basic step that allows the rest of the allocation procedure to go ahead and tells beneficiaries where they stand.
On the separate power-of-attorney question, the governor said land powers of attorney are referred to the competent committee, which reviews the paperwork and confirms the legal position before any action is taken on the land in question. He urged buyers to check that a power of attorney is valid and legally sound, and that the required documents are complete, before anything is signed.
The checks are not meant to stop sales, El-Barqi said. The aim is to regulate deals and examine them closely so that fewer disputes and forgeries surface later, and so that transactions rest on sound legal papers.
Hurghada News reported on 29 September that Red Sea land deals done by power of attorney now go to a review committee. What is new here is the pricing request for uncontracted plots and the governor's assurance about delays. The governorate also says the youth land file is being completed in parallel.
The reports do not say how long the committee's review takes, whether it costs anything, how many powers of attorney are waiting, or when the Hurghada and Ras Ghareb prices will be set. For anyone on this coast holding a plot without a contract, or buying one through a power of attorney, those are the answers still missing.
