Hotels in Hurghada and Marsa Alam are going into the winter tourist season close to full, according to Tourism Daily News, which reports that occupancy has passed 90% at a number of Hurghada properties and that some Marsa Alam hotels have recorded between 90 and 93%.
The outlet, in a piece by Soha Mamdouh, links the figures to the start of the winter season and to European flights continuing to arrive through the autumn. It describes foreign visitors as now the main thing holding Red Sea occupancy up once the Egyptian domestic summer season ends, which it says leaves hotels less dependent on local demand and able to trade through the autumn and winter months.
Tourism Daily News does not name the source of the occupancy figures, describing them only as recently published indicators. It also gives no contractor for the seat numbers behind them and no breakdown by resort.
The report is consistent with what has already been said about the season on this coast: Marsa Alam hotels were expecting 85–90% occupancy a week ago alongside 173 flights, and Hurghada airport has said it expects 100–120 flights a day this winter with bookings already past 80% through December. The new figures suggest those expectations are being met rather than missed.
What it means if you are booking
The outlet is explicit that there is no single room rate for either town — prices move with the hotel's classification, the room type, the board basis and when the booking is made. Its own conclusion is that with demand this high over the winter and the holiday period, pricing follows occupancy and availability, which makes booking early more important at peak dates than it is the rest of the year.
