Hurghada Ranked Third for Winter Value by The Sun, and Second by easyJet
Egyptian Red Sea resorts took the top places in two British winter-sun rankings, with Sharm El Sheikh first and Hurghada third in The Sun's value list, and Hurghada second on easyJet's.

Hurghada has been placed third in The Sun's list of the ten best-value winter sun destinations for 2026, with Sharm El Sheikh taking first place, according to Akhbar El-Youm.
The ranking was compiled by a travel expert at a British tour operator and weighed winter temperatures, flight prices, flight duration, the value of hotel accommodation, demand levels and the availability of holiday offers, the paper reported.
Sharm El Sheikh topped the list on the strength of winter temperatures reaching around 24°C, its relative proximity to European markets, competitive room and flight prices and a wide choice of hotels and resorts. Hurghada took third on similar grounds: warm winter weather compared with many European destinations, competitive prices and the range of what the town offers on the Red Sea coast.
The result is consistent with two other recent British assessments cited by Akhbar El-Youm:
- an easyJet list of the top ten winter sun destinations placed Sharm El Sheikh first and Hurghada second, judged on temperatures, sunshine hours, rainfall, and travel and hospitality costs
- The Independent put Hurghada at the top of its list of winter sun destinations reachable from the UK in under six hours, citing the warmth of its winter weather and its relative closeness to the British market
None of the rankings as reported attaches an actual price to a Hurghada holiday, so the "value" claim is comparative rather than a figure a reader can check. What the three lists have in common is the British market specifically, and the same two variables: how warm it is here in January, and how little the flight costs.
For hotels on this coast, appearing at the top of three separate UK lists in one season is a marketing argument heading into the winter contracting period. For anyone booking a winter break, it is a reminder that the competition Hurghada is being measured against is the Canaries and the eastern Mediterranean, not other Egyptian resorts.
