Hurghada to Get a 130,000-Square-Metre Smart Bus Terminal on the Ring Road

The Red Sea governor has announced the creation of an integrated "smart" regional bus terminal on the Ring Road in Hurghada, according to Akhbar El-Yom Gate and Al-Bawaba News, both of which carried the announcement on 30 August.

Al-Masry Al-Youm put the scale of the site at 130,000 square metres, with capacity for:

• 144 buses
• 107 microbuses
• a single Ring Road location gathering the city's regional services

Sada El-Balad reported separately that the governor was reviewing the final arrangements for the project — the stage at which layout, land and operating details are settled before construction begins.

A regional terminal of this kind gathers intercity coach and microbus departures at one site rather than spreading them across separate stands. Placing it on the Ring Road keeps long-distance vehicles on the city's outer road instead of routing them through inner streets.

The reports do not give a construction cost, a contractor, a start or completion date, or say who would run the terminal once it opens. They also do not specify which existing routes or stands would move to the new site, or what the word "smart" covers in practice.

For residents, a consolidated terminal would mean one departure point for intercity travel instead of several; for visitors arriving in or leaving Hurghada overland, it would mean a single address to find. Until the governorate publishes a budget and a timetable, though, the announcement remains a plan rather than a date.
