Hurghada's One-Way Traffic Trial Is Paused and the Old Directions Are Back

Hurghada's new one-way traffic layout has been postponed and the city's old traffic directions restored while the scheme is studied further, Al-Ahram Gate reported on Thursday.
The trial had been in force only since 1 October. Hurghada News reported at the end of September that the city was turning the Sakkala, Aka and Qatari Mosque streets into a one-way loop from that date, and reported on 1 October that the governor had described the new layout as a one-month trial that could still be changed. It has now been pulled back well inside that month.
Al-Ahram Gate's report does not say what prompted the pause, what the further study will examine, or when — or whether — the one-way layout will be tried again. It does not quote the governorate or the traffic department, and gives no figures on how the trial performed in the days it ran.
For anyone driving in central Hurghada, the practical point is immediate: the routes that applied before 1 October are the ones in force again.
