Marsa Alam city has handed four contracts legalising residents' possession of state land in Sheikh El-Shazly village, at the city's local unit headquarters, Al-Nahar Egypt reported.

City head Yasser Mohanna El-Domeini said the handover was part of the state's work to complete land-status files and settle residents' positions under the governing laws and rules, following directives from Red Sea governor Walid El-Barqi.

El-Domeini said the local unit is continuing to work through possession files and to ease procedures for residents who meet the legal conditions, which he said helps them obtain services while protecting the state's rights.

The report gives no figure for how many applications are still pending in the village or the city, and no deadline or office hours for residents who want to apply.
