The national vaccination campaign against measles and rubella began on Sunday in every city of the Red Sea Governorate.

In Hurghada, vaccinations were being given at the Port health unit, the El Ahyaa health unit and the Future Pioneers school. The health ministry's undersecretary for the Red Sea, Ismail El-Araby, visited those sites on the first day to check that the teams were in place, that vaccines and supplies were available and that the service was running to schedule.

The campaign is aimed at children, with coverage targets set out in the Ministry of Health and Population's plan.

The account of the first day does not give the campaign's closing date or the ages of the children it covers.
