The Red Sea governorate has opened its first shopping festival, a six-day discount drive intended to put basic goods below local market prices.

Governor Waleed Al-Barqi announced the launch on 28 July, according to Ahram Gate, saying the Future of Egypt for Sustainable Development authority would run 12 main outlets across the governorate from 30 July to 4 August under the slogan "highest quality at best price". He framed it as carrying out directives from the political leadership to ease the burden of living costs and combat inflation, with food and consumer products priced significantly below their equivalents in outside markets.

Al-Watan published the addresses of the outlets across the three participating cities: Hurghada, Safaga and El Quseir.

Discounts on basic goods reach 25 percent, Vetogate reported, alongside a draw for 100 electrical and household appliances including refrigerators, washing machines and televisions. The sale points are branches of the Super Tawfeer chain, which the same authority operates in governorates nationwide. Tourism Daily News reported that the draws run daily through the closing date.

Ahram Gate returned on 31 July and found heavy crowds from the opening hours, with shoppers taking direct discounts as well as the instant draws and purchase vouchers handed out to visitors.

For residents the practical detail is the window: the outlets close on 4 August.
