Red Sea governorate has launched a competition for Quran recitation, ibtihalat (devotional supplications) and religious chanting called "Al-Sawt al-Nadi". Online registration runs from Tuesday 3 November to Sunday 8 November 2026, through a form linked from the governorate's announcement.
Entries are open to people from the governorate and to anyone living, working or studying there, who must supply a document proving it. There is no age limit, and the governorate says the contest does not require the traditional Quran memorisation tests. Judging is on voice quality, performance and command of tajweed, alongside ibtihalat and religious chanting.
The registration form asks for the entrant's name, age, phone number and city, plus a national ID number or proof of residence, work or study in the Red Sea governorate.
Preliminary auditions are to be held in each city of the governorate separately, so that entrants can be tested near home. Dates and venues are to be announced after registration closes, through the governorate's official page and the pages of the Endowments (Awqaf) administrations. The final rounds are to be held in Hurghada before a panel of scholars and reciters from the Awqaf Directorate.
Prizes total 50,000 Egyptian pounds: 25,000 for first place, 15,000 for second and 10,000 for third.
Governor Walid al-Barqi launched the contest in coordination with the Awqaf Directorate and in partnership with Stroke Egypt, named in the reports as its sponsor. The reports describe it as modelled on the television programme "Dawlat al-Tilawa".
