The General Authority for the Economic Zone has set out a map for building seven large industrial zones running from Qena across to Safaga and El Quseir, Al-Tareeq reported on Friday.
Two of the points named are Red Sea coast towns — Safaga and El Quseir — which would place industrial development on the coast itself rather than only in the Nile Valley.
That is as far as the report goes. It does not give the size or location of the individual zones, the industries intended for them, a start date, a cost, or how many people they would employ. Those are the figures that would tell people in Safaga and El Quseir whether this means work.
