South Hurghada district has removed unauthorised building work at an early stage after officials found an encroachment onto a pavement in the Schools area, Veto reported.
The operation was supervised by Ayman Sultan, head of South Hurghada district, with the planning department, the sector engineer, field follow-up staff and his deputy. It was carried out on the instructions of Maj. Gen. Ahmed Gaber, head of Hurghada city, and of Red Sea Governor Walid El-Borgy, who has ordered immediate action against building violations and encroachments.
Sultan said the work was taken down before it could be completed, that the tools and equipment used were impounded, and that legal steps were taken to stop the violation being repeated.
The district said daily rounds to check building violations, encroachments and pavement occupations would continue, and that the law would be applied to everyone without exception.
Earlier this month we reported that North Hurghada district cleared 107 street encroachments in a single campaign.
