Three Gold Bars and Crypto Wallets Seized as Red Sea Resident Is Arrested Over Two Indecent-Content Websites
Police seized three gold bars, five phones, a laptop and cryptocurrency wallets from a Red Sea Governorate resident accused of running two websites carrying content offending public decency, Youm7 and El Watan report.

Police have arrested a man living in the Red Sea Governorate who is accused of setting up and running two websites carrying content that offends public decency, and seized three gold bars, five mobile phones and a laptop from him, according to Youm7 and El Watan.
The Interior Ministry said its General Department for Combating Information Technology Crimes, in the communications and IT systems sector, worked with the Public Security Sector to track the man, who it says created and managed the two sites and used them to broadcast material contrary to public morals in order to make money illegally.
He was arrested once the legal formalities were completed. The items taken from him, the ministry said, were:
- 5 mobile phones and a laptop, which on technical examination held evidence of the activity as well as cryptocurrency wallets across several applications
- 3 gold bars
- sums of cash described as proceeds of the activity
When confronted, the man admitted the activity and said he had been seeking illicit profit, police said. El Watan reports that the Public Prosecution has taken over the investigation.
Neither outlet named the man or said which town in the governorate he lives in, and neither gave a value for the gold and cash seized or said when the case might reach court.
