Two Hurghada Cafés and an Arabia Supermarket Sealed Shut for Trading Without a Licence

South Hurghada district has sealed two cafés and a supermarket for trading without an activity licence, elbalad.news reported on Wednesday.

Maj. Gen. Ahmed Gabr, head of the South Hurghada district, said the campaign closed and sealed:

• one café in the Al-Madares (Schools) area
• one café in the El-Basha area
• one commercial premises, a supermarket, in the Arabia area

All three were shut for having no licence to carry on business, Gabr said. The district ran the campaign jointly with the Utilities Police, with officials from its shops and encroachments department and the deputy district head present.

The closures follow instructions from Red Sea governor Dr Walid El-Barqi to intensify daily inspection campaigns on commercial premises across the governorate's cities and to confront violations of every kind, and from Maj. Gen. Diaa Abdel Hamid, the assistant secretary-general supervising the post of head of Hurghada city, according to elbalad.

Gabr said field campaigns on all shops and cafeterias inside the district would continue, and that there would be no leniency with violations that affect residents' safety or that cause disorder and encroachment on the street.

It is the third enforcement action in Hurghada reported here inside a week. The district pulled down 220 square metres of unlicensed rooftop rooms in Arabia — the same neighbourhood as the supermarket — and before that removed barriers and chains from outside seven businesses on the tourist promenade. The report does not name any of the three premises and does not say how long the seals will stay on.
