The low-cost carrier intends to add 70 weekly flights to Egypt from October, Al Mal reports — without saying how many would land at Hurghada or Marsa Alam.

Wizz Air intends to add 70 weekly flights to Egypt from October, the Egyptian business daily Al Mal reported on Wednesday.

The report gives the headline number and the month, but not the detail that matters most on this coast. It does not break the additional flights down by Egyptian airport, name the European cities they would depart from, or say whether the capacity represents new routes, extra frequencies on existing ones, or a mix of both.

Nor does the report say whether the plan has been filed with Egypt's civil aviation authorities or remains at the intention stage.

The distinction matters here. Hurghada and Marsa Alam airports lean heavily on European low-cost and charter traffic to fill hotel rooms through the winter and shoulder seasons, so a capacity addition on this scale by a carrier of Wizz Air's size is directly relevant — but only to the extent that some of it lands on Red Sea runways rather than at Cairo or Sharm el-Sheikh.

Until the airline publishes a schedule, travellers and hoteliers on this coast have a number without a route map. Hurghada News will follow up when the breakdown is released.
