Nine German Teachers Coming to Hurghada's Language Schools, With Paid Extra Lessons and Online Classes
After two weeks of term with classes uncovered, the Red Sea education undersecretary has ordered nine additional German teachers, a redistribution of existing staff, paid extra lessons and online lessons, saying no pupil will be left in a classroom without a teacher.

Hurghada's official language schools are to get nine additional German teachers, with existing staff redistributed between schools and paid extra lessons introduced, after two weeks of term in which German classes went uncovered, according to Al-Masry Al-Youm.
Dr Ashraf El-Araby, the Red Sea undersecretary for education, took the decisions at an expanded meeting with the heads of the governorate's official language schools and with German-language supervisors and teachers, called to examine the causes of the shortfall and find quick solutions. "We will not accept a single pupil in a classroom without a teacher," he said, calling for immediate action to close any gap and for staff to be distributed according to each school's real needs.
The measures agreed are:
- Redistributing the German teachers already in post between the official language schools, directing them to the schools and classes with the greatest need
- Asking qualified teachers to take extra lessons beyond their set quota, for payment
- Approaching civil society organisations in the Red Sea governorate, which are to help supply the nine new German teachers, allocated by each school's actual shortfall and pupil numbers
- Preparing online lessons with the second-language supervisors, in German and French, using e-learning platforms where a school is temporarily without a teacher
El-Araby said the directorate supports pupils' demand for German and is working to supply the teachers needed so that pupils get the education they are entitled to, adding that the current stage requires urgent and flexible solutions given rising demand for German in Hurghada's official language schools.
He also announced a future plan to widen the range of foreign languages taught, in keeping with Hurghada's character as an international tourist city, and to set up a "language development centre" under the directorate's gifted-pupils department, aimed at the skills needed in tourism, hotels, aviation and international services.
Hurghada News reported the shortage in the second week of term, and parents' objections to German being replaced by French. Al-Masry Al-Youm does not say when the nine teachers start, which schools they go to, or how many pupils have been without German lessons.
