The Red Sea Governor chaired a meeting of the board of directors of the Regional Authority for Tourism Promotion in the governorate, according to the Dar Al Maaref news portal. During the same round of meetings, the governor directed officials to draft a global promotion plan for the Red Sea coast and to move ahead with developing El Quseir's heritage sites, Al-Ahram Gate reported.
Neither outlet specified a budget, timeline, or which specific heritage buildings or districts in El Quseir are targeted for development.
The push comes as the governorate has leaned heavily on tourism-led messaging this year, having recently unveiled a EGP 14.8 billion plan covering 223 projects and announced record hotel occupancy across Hurghada and Marsa Alam. El Quseir, a smaller Ottoman-era port town south of Safaga, has drawn past investor interest — Elsewedy Development recently signed a deal covering a large stretch of land nearby in Safaga — but has so far received less promotional attention than Hurghada or El Gouna.
For residents of El Quseir, a heritage development push could bring conservation work and new visitor footfall to the old town; for tourists, it signals the coast's smaller historic towns may see more investment aimed at drawing visitors beyond the resort strips.
