'Art by the Red Sea' Runs in Hurghada Until 29 September, With Workshops Open to the Public

The first edition of Art by the Red Sea is running in Hurghada from 20 to 29 September 2026, bringing painters and sculptors from Egypt and several other countries, according to Al-Nabaa and Sada El-Balad.

The event is hosted by the Sunrise Resorts and Cruises group and organised by the Ostraka Foundation for Arts and Development, under the patronage of Red Sea Governor Walid El-Barqi and with the backing of Hossam El-Shaer, the group's chairman, who also chairs the Egyptian Federation of Tourism Chambers. It is timed to coincide with World Tourism Day.

Events are spread across three venues:

• Luma Square, the group's shopping, dining and entertainment destination in Hurghada
• the Serrano Club resort
• the Serrano Aqua Park resort

The programme is built around direct contact between the artists and the public, with painting and sculpture workshops, live painting and performance, an exhibition and a closing ceremony attended by the organisers, sponsors and participating artists.

El-Shaer said the group's support reflects a view of hospitality that includes art and culture, and that hosting artists from around the world lets them draw on Egypt's nature, culture and history in their work. Beyond the venues, the participating artists are being taken on a Red Sea boat trip and on a cultural and historical visit to Luxor.

The reports do not say whether the workshops and exhibition are free, whether non-residents of the hotels can attend, or what the daily timings are. Anyone wanting to go in the final days of the run will need to check with the venues.
