The Red Sea health affairs directorate has started running a specialised obesity and nutrition clinic every day at the Al-Mina health unit in Hurghada.
The clinic provides nutritional and medical care, advice on balanced eating and early detection of health problems linked to excess weight, the directorate says. It has not given the clinic's consulting hours or said whether patients need a referral.
Dr Ismail El-Araby, the health ministry's undersecretary for the Red Sea, said the directorate is continuing to add specialities inside health units so residents can reach services closer to home. The directorate presents the clinic as part of a health ministry plan to expand primary care and family development services.
