Crews also checked that the cables feeding the lamps were safe and fit to run, and the city chief says the maintenance is continuing rather than finished.

Marsa Alam's local unit has serviced public lighting poles and the electricity cables feeding them in the old commercial market and the apartment-blocks area, along with a number of main and side streets, in maintenance reported on Tuesday 3 November.
Yasser Mohanna El-Domeini, the head of Marsa Alam city, told the local unit's electricity department to keep up its routine maintenance and to patrol daily for lighting faults and unlit streets so they can be dealt with quickly.
Raising the efficiency of public lighting should keep streets lit and reduce the risks that come with electrical faults and weak lighting, he said.
