Hurghada General Hospital has started providing clot-dissolving treatment for stroke patients for the first time, according to Ahram Gate, which reported the launch on 23 August.
The Arabic report refers to the service by the term used in Egypt for brain-clot dissolvers — the emergency drug treatment given to break up a clot blocking blood flow to the brain. Beyond describing it as a first for the hospital, the report carries no further operational detail.
What the coverage does not say:
- when the first patients were treated, or how many;
- whether the service runs around the clock or only during set hours;
- which department operates it, and how it is staffed;
- whether patients from Safaga, El Gouna, El Quseir or Marsa Alam would be referred to Hurghada for it.
