Hurghada's Workshops Are to Move Out of the Housing Blocks, and the Governorate Will First Count Who Qualifies
Red Sea Governor Walid El-Barqi met workshop owners on 14 October about the unfinished Craftsmen's City in Hurghada. A count of workshops, their owners and those entitled to a plot is to come first. No date, number or completion timetable was given.

The Red Sea Governorate said on 14 October that Governor Dr Walid El-Barqi had met owners of Hurghada's workshops to go through the state of the Craftsmen's City project and the steps still needed to finish it and move the workshops to the area set aside for them outside the residential block, Sada El-Balad reported.
The stated purpose is to organise craft activity and reduce its effect on residential areas — workshops in Hurghada currently sit among homes.
What happens next for workshop owners
El-Barqi said a count would be made of the workshops, their owners and those entitled, so that the beneficiaries are identified under the governing rules before further steps are taken, and said the owners' demands and needs would be taken into account.
He said the governorate is studying suitable solutions to complete the project and make it easier for workshop owners. The owners, for their part, welcomed the decisions on completing the Craftsmen's City and the study of the governorate itself carrying out the second phase.
What the statement does not say
- No date for the count, and no date for any move
- No number of workshops involved, and no eligibility criteria published
- No completion timetable for the site, and no location detail beyond "outside the residential block"
This is an announcement about a project still being finished, not a completed relocation. Workshop owners in Hurghada have no published procedure to follow yet; what the governorate has said is that a count is coming.
