Hurghada's North District (Hayy Shamal al-Ghardaqa) carried out a large enforcement campaign that removed 107 cases of street and pavement occupancy, the Al-Ahram news portal reported late on Tuesday, 13 October.

"Occupancy" (ishghal) is the municipal term for goods, tables, chairs, awnings and other items placed on pavements or roadway outside a shop.

It is the second clean-up of this kind reported in Hurghada within five days. On 9 October this site reported that 103 pavement encroachments had been cleared in the Al-Ahyaa district, where inspectors also checked shop licences.
