Red Sea governor Walid Al-Barqi met officials of the British operator Jet2Holidays at the World Travel Market in London on Saturday, where the two sides agreed to cooperate on holiday programmes and trips to Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh starting in February.
MTS Globe Egypt is to act as the local partner for those programmes, handling ground services and receiving visitors during their stay.
Plans for direct flights linking several British cities to Hurghada were discussed at the same meeting. No cities, routes, flight dates or fares have been announced, and what has been reported is an agreement between the governorate and the operator rather than a published flight schedule.
Hurghada News reported on 4 November that Jet2 was said to be planning direct UK flights to Hurghada from February 2027.
