Civil protection crews in Hurghada brought a fire on a moored tourist boat under control on Saturday evening, in the sea area near Beach 4 on the city corniche. No injuries were reported.
Fire engines and ambulances were sent to the scene to surround the flames and keep them from spreading to other vessels and nearby buildings. Officers from the Red Sea Security Directorate followed the response at the site until it was brought under control.
A preliminary inspection found the boat carries the name United, was empty of passengers when the fire started and is used for marine safari trips. The cause has not been established, and the authorities are still assessing the damage and taking legal steps over the incident.
