Mercure Hurghada is due to be rebranded as Mövenpick Hurghada in early 2027, its owner says, after the first phase of a renovation at the hotel was completed.
The Abu Dhabi Tourism Investment Company (ADTIC) said in a statement that the finished works cover the hotel's entrance, reception area and lobby. It puts the renovation programme, which spans its hotels in Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh, at more than $100 million, and says about 80 percent of the work at Mövenpick Sharm El Sheikh is also complete.
The company says its hotels are running at occupancy above 90 percent and expects strong demand over Christmas and New Year.
ADTIC is also preparing a 450-room hotel in Hurghada, alongside a 500-room property in Sharm El Sheikh and a 120-room extension to Mövenpick Sharm El Sheikh, together 1,070 rooms. No dates were given for those projects.
The company is 84 percent owned by the Abu Dhabi Development Fund, with further shares held by Abu Dhabi National Hotels and Egypt's Ministry of Public Business Sector.
The statement was reported on 19 October 2026. It does not say whether the Hurghada hotel stayed open during the work.
