A Red Sea Governorate committee reviewing appeals over the legalisation of buildings put up on state land has received 220 requests since it began work and has finished examining 27 of them.

The governorate said the remaining requests are still being checked against the legal rules governing legalisation, and that the committee is working to complete them as quickly as possible.

The committee was formed under Decision No. 264 of 2026, on the instructions of Red Sea Governor Walid El-Barqi, to examine appeals under Law No. 168 of 2025 and its executive regulations. Deputy Governor Magda Hanna reviewed its work.

Its members come from the governorate's state property, urban planning, governance and internal audit, and legal affairs departments, together with the utility networks and roads centre.
