The Red Sea labour directorate has told tourism and hotel businesses in Hurghada to apply Labour Law No. 14 of 2025 in full, and reminded employers of the obligations the law places on them.
The directorate set out what it expects at an awareness seminar it organised in Hurghada, part of a Labour Ministry effort to explain the legislation inside private-sector firms. It said the tourism and hotel sector needs particular attention because of the large numbers of people it employs.
The seminar went through the provisions the directorate wants establishments to get right:
- written employment contracts setting out mutual rights and duties
- wages and the dates they are paid
- working hours and rest periods
- the leave workers are entitled to
It also covered the legal steps for investigating staff, disciplinary penalties and ending an employment relationship. Establishments should not take decisions that affect workers' rights outside the framework the law sets, the directorate said.
Human resources, legal and operations managers were asked to review their internal working rules against the new law, and to handle any labour dispute through the legal channels.
The session was presented as awareness work. No inspection campaign, compliance deadline or penalty appears in the reporting, and no response from hotel employers is recorded.
