Solidarity Ministry project targets 175 direct jobs at Shalatin garment factory

The ministry says the project also aims at about 438 indirect jobs, with priority for women and young people from the families it classes as most in need. No start date was given.

3 November 2026

Egypt's Ministry of Social Solidarity has announced a project to develop and operate the ready-made garment factory in Shalatin, in the far south of the Red Sea governorate, to be run through one of the ministry's affiliated institutions.

The ministry puts the target at 175 direct jobs and about 438 indirect ones, with priority for women and young people from the families it classes as first in line for care. It expects further work in transport, maintenance, supply, marketing and related services.

Its stated approach is to train people inside a working production line, building garment-making skills alongside product quality and professional discipline, so that trainees move from learning to paid production and a steady income.

The ministry also says it wants the factory to export ready-made clothing to African markets, developing products to suit those markets and building trade and marketing links.

The announcement does not give a start date or a route for applying.
