- On 12 July, two private guards — the men who filmed the video — reported to Marsa Alam police that two other men had insulted them and tried to expel them from the site. They work for one party in the dispute.
- Police traced the two men in the video: they are also guards, employed by the other party. Confronted, both sides admitted a shouting match over who guards the site, each accusing the other of insults.
