Authorities Remove Illegal Structures at Tourist Facility North of Hurghada

Demolition teams in Hurghada's northern district have removed illegal structures covering roughly 450 square meters inside a tourist facility in the Shamal El-Ahyaa area, according to reports by Sada El-Balad and Akhbar El-Yom.

The structures, built of steel and sheet metal, were spotted during routine monitoring of unauthorised construction. The facility's owners had earlier been given a legal deadline to remove them at their own expense, both outlets report, but failed to do so within the set period — so the district's engineering teams carried out the removal themselves and opened legal proceedings against the violators.

The campaign was carried out on the instructions of Red Sea Governor Waleed El-Borqy and Major General Diaa El-Din Abdel-Hamid, who supervises Hurghada city, as part of a governorate push to enforce building regulations along the coast. Major General Ahmed Ali Ahmed, head of the North Hurghada district, said field campaigns will continue across the district and new violations will be dealt with immediately.

Neither report names the facility. Shamal El-Ahyaa — the same fast-growing northern area where the governorate began building a new desalination plant this week — has become a focus of enforcement as construction accelerates north of the city.
