Hurghada and Marsa Alam Top Czech Tourists' Favorite Destinations, Official Says

Hurghada and Marsa Alam remain at the top of Czech travellers' favourite destinations in Egypt, according to Fares Hosny, secretary-general and spokesperson of Egypt's Professional Syndicate of Tourism Professionals, speaking on the National Media Authority's "Masaa El-Kheir Ya Masr" programme.

Hosny was reporting on Tourism Minister Sherif Fathy's visit to Prague, which he said included a series of meetings with the Czech tour operators' federation, travel companies and the operators of Eastern Europe's largest online booking platform, aimed at growing Czech arrivals to Egypt.

• The talks focused on luxury travel, a segment Hosny said is growing fast in the Czech market.
• Czech operators are showing rising interest in newer Egyptian destinations — above all the North Coast, with flights into El Alamein airport up 540%.
• The minister urged operators to build combined beach, cultural, environmental and spiritual itineraries that keep visitors in Egypt longer and lift their spending.
• The Czech side welcomed holding the tour operators' federation annual meeting in Cairo at the end of this year, in coordination with the Egyptian Tourism Promotion Authority.

Czech companies also praised Egypt's measures against unlicensed operators selling tour programmes, Hosny said, crediting them with strengthening Czech travellers' confidence in the Egyptian market.

For the Red Sea coast the headline is continuity: even as newer destinations compete for attention, the Czech market — one of the coast's steady mid-size European source markets — still puts Hurghada and Marsa Alam first.
