Hurghada Job Fair Offered 1,198 Positions With 71 Companies, Salaries Up to EGP 32,000

The Ministry of Labour's Hurghada job fair put 1,198 vacancies in front of Red Sea jobseekers when it opened on Saturday 25 July, with salaries advertised from EGP 8,000 to EGP 32,000 a month.

Al-Masry Al-Youm reported the fair ran from 10am at a hotel on Hurghada's tourist promenade, with company representatives interviewing applicants on the spot. The paper counted 70 participating firms; the Ministry of Labour's own figure, carried by Veto Gate and Copts United, was 71 private-sector and investment companies.

The vacancies leaned towards hotels and services. Restaurant manager, floor supervisor, service and security staff, steward, air-conditioning technician, carpenter, plumber and agricultural worker were among the roles listed by Al-Masry Al-Youm, which said pay depended on the job and the experience required.

Eighty of the posts were set aside for people with disabilities, with a further 150 for people with mild disabilities, according to Al-Masry Al-Youm.

Labour Minister Hassan Radad and Red Sea Governor Walid El-Barqi opened the fair and handed employment contracts to young recruits, including workers with disabilities, Copts United and Veto Gate reported.

Radad said vocational training run in cooperation with the private sector is the route to employment and decent work, according to Copts United. Veto Gate reported that the ministry intends to expand such fairs across the governorates to put young people directly in front of employers.

None of the reports said whether another hiring round is planned in the Red Sea.
