North Hurghada district has run an inspection campaign in the Al-Ahyaa area, working with the facilities police, to check the trade licences of commercial premises and their permits to occupy public space, and whether businesses are keeping to the rules that govern commercial activity.
The district said the campaign came on instructions from Red Sea governor Walid El-Barqi to step up inspections and act against violations, and from the head of Hurghada city to restore order on the street. It said campaigns are continuing in other sectors to curb the occupation of public space and encroachments. No figures were given for how many premises were checked, or whether any were closed or fined.
