The Red Sea Governorate has launched a new Supreme Investment Committee, tasked with speeding up licensing procedures and attracting capital into the governorate, according to Al-Mal newspaper, Sada El-Balad and the National Media Authority.
The governor chaired the committee's founding meeting this week to set new mechanisms for drawing investors to the coast, the reports said.
None of the reports named who sits on the committee, detailed which licensing procedures will change, or specified which sectors or projects the push is meant to target.
The launch follows a string of major development moves on the coast this year — including the Golden Triangle Authority's deal with Elsewedy for Development covering six million square meters of land in Safaga, a Hassan Allam-led alliance qualifying to bid for management of Hurghada Airport, and new hotel investment underway in Sahl Hasheesh. A dedicated body to fast-track licensing suggests local authorities want to keep that pipeline moving.
For residents and business owners, a faster licensing process could mean quicker approvals for the kind of hotel, real estate and infrastructure projects reshaping the coast. But with no committee membership, timeline or concrete targets disclosed yet, it remains to be seen whether the change speeds anything up in practice.
