Work to clear silt and sediment from both sides of the Marsa Alam–Shalatin road at Wadi El-Ghadir was still under way on Thursday, according to the weather monitoring report issued through the governorate's national emergency and public safety control centre.

Red Sea cities had settled weather that day, with sunshine in most of them, light winds and no rain.

The centre said the clearing is part of rehabilitating areas hit by flood flows and is meant to keep traffic on the road safe. The report did not describe the road as closed and gave no completion date.

Field checks are continuing on storage lakes, wadis, culverts and dams to review how far they were affected and assess their capacity. Street lighting columns in the cities are also being checked after the recent unsettled weather in the south of the governorate.

The report said nothing had occurred that required exceptional measures, while readiness remains raised, emergency teams stay deployed and monitoring continues with the Meteorological Authority.
